This 1903 beauty is located next to Galveston’s oldest house, The Menard House, and sits just minutes from the beach and the historic Strand District.  The two bedroom, one bath home had been owned by the same owners for 50 plus years and they had kept many of the home’s historical features… hidden under the carpet and behind the mid-century paneling.  It was time for an update!  

The new owner’s plans for the home were for weekend visits and vacation rentals.  In order to maximize earning potential another bedroom and bathroom needed to be added in the original space and while updates were in order all around the historical charm of the home had to be maintained.  First things first, new electrical and plumbing had to be added after the new floorplan was approved and built out.  Windows were moved, the kitchen was moved, a new bedroom and bathroom and closets were created.  The beautiful red pine floors were uncovered and refinished and door and window trims and transoms were carefully repaired to reveal the beauty of the original home.  Finally, we were asked to make all of the selections for interior and exterior paint colors and bath and kitchen finishes including appliances before furnishing the home for the new owners.  From Day 1 the new owner was able to spend the night in a gorgeous home that was ready for them and their vacation guests, for the next 50 years.
